With two weeks remaining in the NFL regular season, there is a lot of action at New York sportsbooks. That should include some playoff clarity for the New York Giants and New York Jets come early Sunday evening.
The Giants (8-6-1), under first-year head coach Brian Daboll, have seven playoff possibilities that could clinch them a berth as they host the Indianapolis Colts (4-10-1) on Sunday (CBS, 1 p.m.).
On Friday afternoon at Caesars Sportsbook NY, the Giants are a 5.5-point and -250 moneyline favorite over the Colts (+205 moneyline).
The gameās over/under for total points is at 39.
Giants Clinch Scenarios
The easiest: If the Giants win, they clinch.
Other possibilities include:
- Giants tie + Seattle Seahawks loss or tie at home to Jets + Washington Commanders loss or tie at home to the Cleveland Browns
- Giants tie + Seahawks loss or tie + Detroit Lions loss or tie at home to the Chicago Bears
- Giants tie + Commanders loss or tie + Lions loss or tie + Green Bay Packers loss or tie at home to the Minnesota Vikings
- Seahawks loss + Commanders loss
- Seahawks loss + Lions loss + Packers loss
- Commanders loss + Lions loss + Packers loss
To make the playoffs, the Giants are an overwhelming -900 favorite and +600 to miss.
The Giants will visit the Philadelphia Eagles in their final game of the season on Jan. 8 (FOX, 1 p.m.).
This Sunday, the Eagles are looking to clinch the NFC East title and the top seed for home-field advantage throughout the NFC Playoffs with a home victory over the New Orleans Saints.
Jets More of a Long Shot
The New York Jets (7-8) travel 3,000 miles to take on the Seahawks (7-8) and former Jets quarterback Geno Smith on Sunday (FOX, 4:05).
Jets quarterback Mike White is back after missing a game with a rib injury and should provide an extra spark for an offense that desperately needs it.
In New York NFL betting, Caesars lists the Jets as a 1.5-point and -120 moneyline favorite over Seattle (+100) with the gameās over/under point total at 42.5.
FanDuel NY has the Jets at +390 to make the playoffs and -550 to miss out.
In their last meeting, the Jets lost at Seattle, 40-3, on Dec. 12, 2020.
Here is the playoff scenario for the Jets: They must win in Seattle and hope for a Miami Dolphins (8-7) road win on Sunday over the New England Patriots (7-8).
If that happens, it sets up the final week matchup of the Jets at Dolphins as a potential winner-take-all game (Jets have tiebreaker).
If the Patriots and Jets win out, the Dolphins are out but the Patriots win the tiebreaker by virtue of beating New York twice.
