It was a mixed start to May for mobile New York sports betting, but there was one very significant bright spot.
Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) rose dramatically by more than $10.1 million to $47.9 million. The number was the second-highest weekly number since launch (Jan. 8, 2022) and the highest in the past few months.
Only the week ending Jan. 22 of this year ($57.45 million) surpassed it.
The official figures for the week ending May 7 were released Thursday afternoon by the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC).
Total mobile handle for the week was more than $342 million, a marked $31.87 million drop from $374.2 million last week.
Legislators in Albany were happy as the weekly tax posted at $24.45 million, a solid $5.15 million jump from $19.3 million reported the previous week. New York and New Hampshire have the highest tax rates in the nation at 51%.
Since launch, the state has handled more than $23.121 billion and generated more than $1.966 billion in total GGR.
Adding in this week’s amount, the state now has collected more than $1 billion in taxes ($1.003 billion.)
In addition to weekly revenue reporting, EmpireStakes.com also has New York sportsbook promos.
