Free-agent right winger Patrick Kane is looking to get back on the ice after hip resurfacing surgery back in June, but where he plays this season is still up in the air.
Last season, Kane played out the final 19 games of an eight-year, $84 million deal with the New York Rangers, after New York acquired him in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks on Feb. 28. The nine-time All-Star and three-time Stanley Cup winner totaled just 57 overall points (21 goals, 36 assists) last season, his lowest offensive output since the 2012-13 season.
Kane, who celebrates his 35th birthday on Nov. 19, has scored 451 goals and 786 assists (1,237 points) in 1,180 games played in his career. As you look toward placing NHL wagers at New York sports betting sites, here are his future landing destinations:
Patrick Kane Next Team Odds
The Buffalo Sabres (+350, 22.2%) have the best chance, with the Florida Panthers and Detroit Red Wings tied at +500 each (16.7%). His last team, the Rangers (+600, 14.3%) are next on the list, but earlier this week it was reported New York does not want to bring him back in the fold. The Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils are both +1000 (9.1%) to round out the list.
All teams listed would make the NHL Playoffs today if the season ended. Questions remain though if Kane still has it and can help a team get over that hump in the playoffs. It is going to be interesting to find out.
