Online New York sports betting registered a little more than $423 million in handle for the second full week of 2023.
The Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) for Jan. 9-15 was a little more than $28 million and those revenues yielded a weekly tax take for New York state of almost $14.29 million.
The handle figure topped last week’s $401.2 million and is the largest since the week ending Nov. 27. In fact, it comes in at No. 7 in the 53 weeks of handle amounts reported by the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC).
FanDuel, DraftKings on Top as Usual
As usual, Fan Duel New York and DraftKings New York dominated the mobile market, combining for almost 74% of the total online handle in the state. There are seven other mobile operators in New York.
FanDuel was No. 1 among the nine operators with almost $172 million in handle and $18.64 million in GGR.
DraftKings had nearly $140 million in handle and $3.86 million in GGR.
Caesars Sportsbook New York handled about $52.4 million in sports wagers and had a GGR of about $2.96 million.
The rest of the operators were: BetMGM, $28.13 million in handle and $1.51 million in GGR; PointsBet, $16.51 million in handle and $452,443 in GGR; BetRivers, $10.84 million in handle and $425,647 in GGR; WynnBet New York, $2.055 million in handle and $115,474 in GGR; Resorts World, just over $944,000 in handle and $42,674 in GGR, and Bally Bet, a little more than $200,000 in handle and minus-$705 in GGR.
New York Handle Now Past $17B
Since the inception of mobile sports betting in New York on Jan. 8, 2022, bettors have wagered more than $17.1 billion with operators realizing more than $1.41 billion in gross gaming revenue and tax collection amounting to $721.38 million.
