Normalcy restored?
DraftKings NY, which topped FanDuel NY the past three weeks, took a mighty tumble downward this week in New York sports betting.
DraftKings handled more than $73.83 million (a $50.65 million decrease from $124.48 million from the week before). It also marked the end to its top weekly spot and four consecutive weeks of more than $100 million.
FanDuel NY generated a little more than $88 million in handle, a smidge up from the previous week ($86.8 million). It is the second consecutive week FanDuel has not eclipsed $100 million.
The official weekly figures were released Friday by the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) for the week ending July 2.
Summer Swoon Season
New York has a summer season problem.
Total mobile handle for the Empire State for the week ending July 2 was more than $218.26 million. That was a major 22.6 percent drop ($49.31 million) from a week ago ($267.57 million).
It marked the fourth week in a row handle has declined in the state and the sixth in which handle has not reached the $300 million mark.
There was a rebound in the state's total Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) of more than $25.96 million, a nice $9.64 million jump from last week. Weekly tax collected: $13.24 million.
The pickings have been slim on NY sports betting apps in pro sports as the annual summer dive takes effect in the market.
Launched in January 2022, the state has handled more than $25.371 billion, generated more than $2.179 billion in revenue and collected over $1.111 billion in taxes.
